'Zinderella Mix' Zinnia Seeds

Members of the Zinderella series, 'Zinderella Mix' varieties are tender annuals that bloom heavily from midsummer to fall, possibly to first frost. A bright mix of crayon colors, 'Zinderella Mix' blooms continuously in double-scabiosa flowers, with some single flowers. Known as scabiosa blooms, the distinctive flowers have a frilly crested center and a dark eye. Borne singly at the end of a long 25 to 30-inch stem, the flowers produce loads of nectar and butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and other beneficial pollinators to the garden. The dramatic dahlia-like blooms make brilliant, long-lasting cuts for bouquets, bright garnishes for salads, and lovely everlastings.

Zinnia elegans species, commonly called zinnias, 'Zinderella Mix' varieties have a dense, upright, mounding habit and a fast growth rate. A classic garden favorite, zinnia look their best when grouped or massed in beds, borders, and patio pots. 'Zinderella Mix' is an absolute must-have in a cut flower garden. A high percentage of the flowers are double-scabiosa but some single flowers occur, and as temperatures cool more double flowers appear.

Zinnias are extremely easy to grow from seed. Direct sow 'Zinderella Mix' zinnias in a sunny site with rich, organic, freely draining soil after the last frost date, once the soil has warmed and temperatures are consistently 68°F and above. Or start your seeds indoors, acclimatize sprouts for 10 to 15 days, and transplant seedlings carefully when they are very young, after all threat of frost has passed. Good air circulation is vital for best performance, so provide generous spacing. Although zinnias are low maintenance deadheading faded flowers keeps the plants blooming. Zinnias tolerate heat and drought and resist disease and damage from deer.
