We are simply delighted with this long-blooming, always-colorful ground cover sedum from our old friend Chris Hansen. Part of the amazing SunSparkler® series of ultra-colorful varieties, Sedum SunSparkler® 'Firecracker' impresses with deep red foliage topped by bright pink blooms over a long, late season.
Sedum SunSparkler® 'Firecracker', a low-growing, spreading perennial, offers small, pointed, succulent leaves of jade-green to deep pinkish-red from spring through fall. Very tolerant of heat, humidity, and dry soil, they look great even in the worst August heat, filling the space allotted with bright color unlike any other in the garden or container. This plant is about 6 to 8 inches high (out of bloom) and 16 to 18 inches wide, every bit filled with fascinating color and form.
Beginning in late summer and continuing throughout autumn until nipped back by frost, clusters of bright pink blooms top the foliage. Filled with nectar, they become a focal point for bees and butterflies, not to mention adding another color to the already bright display. So eye-catching!
Sedum SunSparkler® 'Firecracker', a cold hardy stonecrop, is easy to grow in any sunny, well-drained spot. Pamper it a bit the first season to get it established, and from then on it will be wonderfully drought-tolerant and able to withstand weeks of intense heat and humidity without melting out.
