Nepeta Whispurr™ Blue
Nepeta Whispurr™ Blue is a showy perennial offering early spring through late summer interest. An excellent robust landscape plant with a long blooming season, it flowers freely in large, dense, light purple flower plumes. The flowers are extremely popular with pollinators, especially bees and butterflies.
A Nepeta x faassenii cultivar, commonly called catmint, Nepeta Whispurr™ Blue is a freely branching herbaceous plant that has a moderately vigorous, upright, mounded growth habit of dark green leaves that emit a minty scent when bruised or crushed. The plant is shown to best effect when massed in beds and borders. It makes excellent edging and fits nicely in a container.
Remarkably low maintenance, catmint prefers full sun and average, dry to medium, well-drained soils. In hot summer climates, light afternoon shade may be beneficial. Fertilize plants once per month during growing season and trim them in midsummer to encourage rebloom in fall. The plant is frost tolerant and is bothered by few pests, including deer and rabbit.
