Gaillardia Spintop™ Mariachi Copper Sun Improved is a perennial offering late spring to fall interest. Long and heavy blooming, the plant blankets its foliage non-stop in bold, bright, bicolor blooms. Borne singly atop strong, hairy stems, the rusty-red daisies sport fluted petals with yellow tips and establish pollen anthers on a chocolate center. Nectar and pollen rich, the flowers are a pollinator favorite, attracting tons of bees and butterflies. And birds, especially goldfinches, adore the seed heads that follow. The flowers can last up to 6 weeks and make nice cuts for fresh and dried arrangements.

A Gaillardia aristata species, commonly called blanket flower, Mariachi Copper Sun Improved, a freely branching herbaceous plant, has a compact, dense, and bushy mounded habit of strong, deeply lobed silvery green leaves that resist yellowing. The compact plant has good garden performance and is a great option for patio pots, edging, and the front of traditional perennial borders and mixed beds. It's also perfect for mass planting in prairies, meadows, xeriscapes, rock and water-wise gardens.

Easy care and cold hardy (-40 to -30°F), blanket flower grows best in sunny locations with organically rich, moist, well-draining soil. It tolerates drought but not heavy clay soils. The plant is heat tolerant and deer resistant. Deadheading spent flowers encourages additional blooms.
