Dianthus Sunflor® Luigi 'HILLUIGI'

Of course, you recognize carnations as floral flowers, but this garden variety is an excellent evergreen bedding plant. Its vintage charm is especially appealing in a traditional cottage garden where its spicy clove fragrance will beckon oodles of butterflies, bees, and birds. It forms an attractive diminutive mound of grassy grey-green foliage heavily dotted with coral to apricot fully double blooms.

The fringed and frilly flowers give this perennial a delicate appearance, but in fact, it is completely hardy, drought tolerant, and easy to grow, even in rock gardens. Planted in a sunny spot with well-drained soil it will flower well into autumn.
